It all started with Margie, our mother, whom my brother and I agree was a most amazing individual in and out of the kitchen. Although, I must say, with 2 kids Margie was more in than out of the kitchen. In 1973 Margie took her first bite of a jalapeno pepper and never looked back. It wasn’t long after that she started growing her own jalapenos. They took off so well we couldn’t eat them fast enough. So, of course, we handed jalapeno peppers out to all extended family and friends.

Margie was always trying different ways to serve them. But in 1974, almost a year to the date she first tried the jalapeno pepper, came the birth of The Candied Jalapenos. Mom had always made her own bread and butter pickles and one day thought, “I wonder how these jalapeno peppers would taste prepared like my pickles?” That same year our kitchen was dubbed Margie’s Texas Kitchen by one of my closest friends. When you have a chef in the family you tend to have several close friends.

Needless to say, after several years it became more work than we could ever imagine. In 1993 a close friend of my dad’s suggested that we form a business and sell the Candied Jalapenos and the Crispy Pickles, as well as other mouthwatering creations over the years. We didn’t have to think hard for the name. We had come up with that nearly 20 years ago… Margie’s Texas Kitchen.

Margie’s Texas Kitchen is now proudly serving over 31 states and growing,
putting smiles on faces all over the United States of America.
