It All Started With Margie

Our mother Margie was a most amazing individual. With 2 hungry kids she spent more time in the kitchen than out of it. She was always looking for new food items and new ways to combine them.

Spicy Love at First Bite

In 1973 Margie took her first bite of a jalapeño pepper and never looked back. She just couldn’t get enough of that spicy heat. It wasn’t long before she started growing her own jalapeños. Her little garden crop grew so quickly we just couldn’t eat them fast enough. We handed out jalapeño peppers to anyone who would take them.

Margie was always trying different ways to serve her beloved jalapeños. One day while preparing some of her mouthwatering Crispy Pickles (bread and butter pickles) she stopped and thought, “Why don’t I try this recipe with my jalapeños?” So in 1974, she invented her, now-famous, Candied Jalapeños. Everyone loved the sweet and spicy flavor, so she shared them with anyone who would try them, at every occasion.

Margie’s Texas Kitchen Was Born

The love of her Crispy Pickles and Candied Jalapeños started spreading. Soon her little home canning project became known by friends as “Margie’s Texas Kitchen”.

After several years Margie’s canned goods started generating more requests than we could imagine. In 1993 a close friend of my dad’s suggested that we form a business and sell the Candied Jalapenos and the Crispy Pickles. So, Margie’s Texas Kitchen began selling product to friends and food-lovers everywhere.

Over the years, we added a few other mouthwatering creations to the mix to round out the tasty selection of Texas treats. Margie’s Texas Kitchen is now proudly serving over 39 states and growing, putting smiles on faces all over the United States of America.
